Always ready to help animals in need

Our Animal Rescue Team is highly trained and ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. Whether responding to a hurricane, large-scale neglect case, closing animal fighting operations or other large-scale situations of  cruelty and neglect, our team travels from around the world to assist in the ongoing care of animals rescued from harm.

Rescue and relief

When disasters and other emergencies strike, Humane World for Animals deploys teams of field responders and veterinarians to collaborate with other organizations to conduct animal rescue, relief and evacuation. We also work with law enforcement to investigate some of the worst cases of animal abuse. Every year, we rescue hundreds of animals from puppy mills, the dog meat trade, animal fighting operations and other large-scale situations of cruelty and neglect.

Planning for animals in disasters

We train responders on meeting animal needs in disasters and ensuring animals are included in community and individual preparedness plans. When animals aren't considered ahead of disasters, people may opt to stay in dangerous situations or may have to leave them behind during evacuations. That's why, along with disaster response, we focus on keeping people and their animals together during emergencies.

Volunteer with our Animal Rescue Team

Volunteers work with our Animal Rescue Team in the U.S. and Canada to help animals who are victims of cruelty and disasters. After we respond—whether to a hurricane, earthquake, large-scale neglect case or dogfighting or—these volunteers arrive to assist with the ongoing care of dogs, cats and other animals who have been rescued from harm.
