About Humane World for Animals

For more than 70 years, Humane World for Animals—formerly called Humane Society International and the Humane Society of the United States —has been a leader in the animal protection movement, tackling the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering to drive permanent change and create a better world for all animals around the globe.

From factory farms to puppy mills, we target the most deeply rooted animal abuses affecting the greatest number of animals. Our undercover investigations, awareness campaigns and advocacy move the public, corporations and legislators to act for animals. Since 1954, we’ve helped pass thousands of local and national laws protecting animals. We go where animals need us most, responding to cruelty and disaster situations around the world. Our sanctuaries give a lifelong home to animals in need, and our rehabilitation centers have helped heal thousands of animals on their way to loving homes.

We envision a better world for animals – where wild animals stay wild and protected, where animals no longer suffer the abuses of factory farming, where no animals are used in experiments, and where companion animals are cared for throughout

their lives
